Neck tightness after laptop work: 5 resets
If your neck feels stiff by mid-afternoon, you do not need a long workout. You need short, repeatable resets.
Laptop work often pulls your head forward. That position is fine for short bursts. It gets expensive when it lasts all day.
1. Chin glide (30 seconds)
Sit tall. Slide your chin straight back like you are making a double chin, then release halfway. Repeat 5 times slowly. Keep shoulders quiet.
2. Shoulder blade squeeze (30 seconds)
Pull shoulder blades gently toward each other without arching your lower back. Hold 3 seconds. Release. Repeat 5 times.
3. Desk-edge hang (45 seconds)
Scoot back, rest forearms on the desk edge, and let your chest drop slightly between your shoulders. Breathe out slowly. Come up carefully.
4. Side neck stretch (60 seconds)
Drop your right ear toward your right shoulder. Keep the left shoulder heavy. Hold 20–30 seconds each side. No forcing.
5. Stand and look far (60 seconds)
Stand up. Look out a window or across the room. Soften your jaw. Let your arms hang. This resets both neck and eyes.
How to use this
Pick two resets after every long meeting. Consistency beats intensity. If pain is sharp, persistent, or worrying, talk with a clinician — this is not medical advice.
